Eclipse.
The pomp of power and proud feint
Long-drawn darkness deeply afraid
In dark joyless river's complaint
Ancient empires silently swayed
The path of glory's cheer passed on
Living lyre slumbers in heart
Closed eyes fancied in ways forlorn
Worthless memories will not depart
Formula phrase fears of Romans.
Should not follow souls to their grave.
The prophet prays force Herculean
Their epitaph engraved, heavenly stave.
On my bosom the glory of Greece prays.
So, in the parent’s lake the Spartans blaze.
