The pomp of power and proud feint Long-drawn darkness deeply afraid In dark joyless river's complaint Ancient empires silently swayed The path of glory's cheer passed on Living lyre slumbers in heart Closed eyes fancied in ways forlorn Worthless memories will not depart Formula phrase fears of Romans. Should not follow souls to their grave. The prophet prays force Herculean Their epitaph engraved, heavenly stave. On my bosom the glory of Greece prays.
