Dolores Altea Lapinid, Marikina City (Near Manila), Philippines

Trees
Years ago l was with a bunch of seeds
scattered carelessly with the weeds.
Unfortunately some of them did not survive.
But I was lucky enough to be alive.
Then I became a young plant ,
for Mother Nature supplied all my wants.
I got chlorophyll from the sunlight.
and the rain quenched my thirst with full delight.
Now l have a lush canopy,
sufficient to give shade to anybody.
On my strong branches, birds have built their nests
a haven to live and a comfortable rest.
My mighty roots have stucked deep into the ground,
thus ensured my water supply all year round.
Some of my roots have moved to other places.
thus preventing erosion and flooding in all circumstances.
I am happy to be the queen of the forest.
Sylvan inhabitants look up to me as their mother dearest.
From my leaves, sap and fruits
they can satisfy their pursuits.
Now I am old.
Maybe it is time to be bold.
to give my trunk to the woodcutters
who will use me for their construction of tools and shelters.
Don't worry there are plenty of saplings around.
When I am gone, tall and big trees will abound.
In life there is a time to go
and a time to grow.
Before I finally say goodbye
there is a message l want to convey.
Fill the land with trees.
So you will enjoy the calmness of the breeze.

Tomorrow Tomorrow shall be a beautiful day.. Differs from the day that just past away.. It feels the soul strongly to get up fairly.. Tom...
